If you’ve been wondering: What’s a Finsta? It is a completely fake Instagram account which lets its users to share personal content with all their close friends. The accounts are fast becoming the new norm for several teenagers around the globe. But their main reason for Creating these accounts isn’t as malicious as you may think. They used as a platform where they can connect to their various friends and relatives. They have become followers of their Instagram page.
The first time I came across what is Finsta was back in August when I was looking through the directory of apps on the Facebook iPhone. While browsing through the list one of the many apps that seemed incredibly popular was Instagram. As I scrolled through the list of apps I saw it had many users uploading their pictures, videos and messages. I decided to check it out and see what it was about. I quickly noticed that the App wasn’t particularly popular, but it was hiding behind another app: Flockfinder.
As soon as I started to explore what is Finsta I immediately noticed that it wasn’t an official Instagram application. Instinctively I thought that since it was designed to be used by young people it must be an official Instagram application. So I started to tap into its functionality and tried to open it up. What I saw was a gorgeous interface filled with bright colors, lots of icons and menu bar at the top. Everything looked fine, but I couldn’t find a way to turn on the app. So I disabled it from trying to connect to Instagram.

Flockfinder and Finsta
I decided to give Flockfinder a try once I realized that there was an option for private accounts. Since Flockfinder supports both the official and private Instagram accounts, it was apparent that it would work for what I was looking for. I activated my private account and was able to log into my account right away. Once in, I was able to see that this app had two tabs. One for personal posts and the other for business posts. I selected the business tab and was able to see the entire picture history of the person I was looking.
The next question that came to mind was, “why would I want to use this app when I can view my account online for free”? After all, the main function of the app was to let me know who I was looking at in my feed, not who I wanted to meet or get in contact with. I started to wonder if there was any way to view my feed without opening up the social media website. The answer to my question was, “yes.” Through the use of an official Facebook application I was able to access my account from within the Facebook application.
My final thought on What is Finsta was to see if it could find me close friends from my high school days. Through the search criteria provided by the app, I was able to find old friends as well as current friends. The application also showed me my location, my birth date, and my Social Security number. This application truly made using social media a lot easier. Although What is Finsta does require a fee, the amount is minimal when compared to the amount of time and effort I wasted searching for my close friends.
